Metuchen, NJ, October 1 2014. Dragonfly Multicultural Arts Center, a nonprofit community theater based in Metuchen, announced they will be presenting a Halloween show, the classic play Blithe Spirit. Blithe Spirit, by Noel Coward, is a fast-talking comedy about a novelist who employs a medium to conduct a séance as research for his latest novel—only to have her bring back the ghost of his sassy first wife.
Directed by the theater group’s founders, Anna Paone and Catherine LaMoreaux, Blithe Spirit spotlights the talents of local and New York actors. In the lead role is Tenafly native Wally Marzano-Lesnevich, an alumnus of Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts. Playing his second wife is Claire McClanahan, a Metuchen resident. Others in the cast include Lindsay Adkins of Roselle Park, Vivian Lam of Piscataway, Bernadette Maass of New York, and Barry Leonard of East Brunswick. Playing the psychic is Perry Award nominee Rosemary Wall of Mountain Lakes. Matthew Holbert from Metuchen is the company’s Assistant Director. Other Metuchen residents will be working backstage.
Performances will take place at the Forum Theater, 314 Main Street, Metuchen. Opening night is Thursday, October 30 at 8:00. A special Halloween performance will be given on Friday, October 31 at 8:30 and will include a post-show wine and treats reception.
